Semil is a Partner at Haystack Ventures, an early-stage institutional venture capital firm, now investing out of its eighth fund, Haystack Ventures VIII. Semil co-invests with his colleagues Aashay Sanghvi (Partner) and Divya Dhulipala (Principal). Since 2018, Semil has also been Venture Partner at Lightspeed Venture Partners, focusing on enterprise, consumer, and frontier investments. Prior to investing, Semil held various product and operational roles at early-stage startups, the most recent startup being acquired by Apple. Semil was named to Midas List for Seed Investors by Forbes in 2022, 2023, 2024, and again in 2025. While working and investing, he has also been a long-time consistent writer about technology and investing at outlets such as Harvard Business Review, TechCrunch, and Quora.
